pile-it-on challenge #8 & sunday sketch inspiration

this weeks pile-it-on challenge is "lucky me" and the pile-it-on dt members are so lucky to be sponsored this week by whimsy stamps!

this is what i did with mine! i used the whimsy circle post marks


i used 2 of my favorite products! smooch and glimmer mist!

i painted the stamps with the smooch first, then sprayed with the glimmer mist

i hand cut some (almost lol) circles, and distressed them

then i layered them with pop dots
this weeks sketch for inspiration at the everyday scrapper is from basic grey!




i used the january work in progress kit for this page! i still can't believe that kit is only $25 dollars!!! i have done a ton of pages with it!!!!

last minute fix!

first off, i am sooooo over snow! we got a ton, kids love it, mommy not so much!



then i did this page with the march wip kit



i cut the journaling spots on the right out of the elements paper.
i used fabri-tac to glue the twine (see this kit is not just for girls !!!)
but i felt it needed something more!

glitz, it needed glitz! so i grabbed my zig squeeze and roll and some melissa francis glitter and got busy!


i like he melissa francis glitter because of the small top! so even if i want to add some last minute, it doesn't make a huge mess!



then the adorable little boy in the photo decided he had to touch the glitter lol so it's a bit smudged!

on thursday i found out i won the feb scrap for a cure french kiss kit, thank you so much diana!!!

i can't wait to play with it!!! i think the coolest thing about sfac is that a portion of their profits go to charity!

THEN....

i found out i won a nikki sivils prize from nathalie!!!

happy first birthday nikki sivils!! i can't wait to play with that super duper cute line!!!

i can't believe i won both!! i never ever win anything!!!

serious snow day!

good morning!! who wouldn't love to start a snowy morning with a little love?? (i used the smaller heart cookie cutter lol )



this was my view at 6 am!

guess what i made today...

mmmmmm powdered sugar!!!




i picked up 2 different size heart cookie cutters the other day at michaels left over from valentines day. they were 23 cents each!!! all i kept thinking about was making linzer tarts!!!!

i used this sugar cookie recipe from alton brown ( i love him!)

i made them dairy free by replacing the butter with margarine, and milk with soy milk. i also reduced the sugar by 3 tablespoons.

THEN........

i scrapped!! i gave up my march wip kit playing dt on willow traders. well i couldn't live without the kit!!!


SOOOO......

the kit is soooo much fun!! it has this cool tulle (brown my favorite color) so i remembered this fabric flower tutorial on the wip blog.

it's my day to do a post on the everyday scrapper, and i got down to business.

well let me just tell you how little tulle and glue get along lol




so i came up with this idea to cover the glue mess on my tulle.



i lightly pressed the flower into the glue pad. then sprinkled on the glitter! it was a great cover up and who doesn't love a little extra sparkle!




now run on over to wip and pick up this kit!!!

red velvet delish!

can you say yumm!!!

i used this red velvet recipe from bakerella replacing dairy ingredients buttermilk-->tofu sourcream and a little soy milk, cream cheese--> tofu cream cheese.

they are so stinkin' good!

my 2 loves

do you know what they are?? cooking/baking and scrapbooking!

i have a a number of people ask about a fish taco recipe. so i'll share mine.



i used tilapia for this one. first i lightly salt and pepper my fish. i cut it into 1 1/2 inch cubes.

i made my batter with...

1 cup of whole wheat flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tbsp chilli powder
a pinch of chipotle powder
up to 1 cup of seltzer



i fried in canola oil until golden



placed on a wire rack over a tinfoil covered pan to drain.



i make a quick guac with 2 avocados, 1 lime juiced, 1 tsp salt, 3 tbsp hot salsa. halved grape tomatoes and add into the whole wheat wraps.



the potato's are easy. par boil diced potato's. mix with 2 tbsp canola oil, 1 tbsp chili powder, salt pepper and a pinch of chipotle if you want. and bake in a 425 oven util golden turning once.



i had a little quiet time last night and scrapped a page of lex having so much fun in the snow. i used some leftover feb wip valetines kit i added the jillibean polka dot paper, october after noon #'s and the pearls.

this is my last week as a member of the nuts about sketches dt!

i can't believe it has been 6 months already!!! it has been so wonderful working with all the girls and shawn i <3 you and your sketches!!!

i can't wait to see the work of the new dt!

i was totally inspired by scrapscene today!!!


i used leftover ac letter stickers
i used the last bit of my gdt kit from scrapbook sussies
i painted over the stickers
composed my lo
then i sanded the painted letters

happy new year/valentines day!

does everyone have big plans for today? i'm making doughnut muffins for breakfast. we are celebrating chinese new years for lunch, then i am making german food for dinner!!

we made our valentines (see yesterdays post lol) and i have a little v-day prezzie for everyone. i love how the kids are so excited for every holiday!!
