sketchy thursday

here is my take on this weeks sketch. really digging through the stash for this one. the kids love the "fake rain" at the ren faire, nad it sure got hot that day!

yummy cupcakes

i cheated and used a devils food mis, and added 3/4 cup of cake flour to give a more substantial cake. now for the frosting...
1 cup whipping cream
1/4 c sour cream
2 tbs powdered sugar
top with sweetened coconut
this is a variation on the cake seen in the january womans day!

holy mittens page, scraptastic club dec kit!

grab you rock candy crackle paint and some glitter and let's make SNOW!!!
paint with the crackle paint, and quickly coat with glitter!

it's such a fun snow technique!! i used the holy mittens kit from scraptastic club for this page!

i hope you all make some snow of your own!

nuts week 143

this is my take on one side of this weeks 2 pager! i used papers from the sugust scraptastic clubs crate paper kit!

lilly bee papers, and lots of stash getting used here. the flowers are made from adhesive borders by k & co!

and yes those are elsie epoxy stickers!!! i hope you are inspired to use a little stash too!

doesn't this orzo dish look yummy!!!

i came up with this trying to use extra grilled chicken breasts and pantry items without running to the store.

1 cup steamed butternut squash

3 grilled chicken breatst cubed

2 tbs canola oil

1/2 c red and green peppers

1/2 c onion chopped

1/4 c sliced black olives

8 oz orzo

2 tbs chicken seasoning

salt and pepper to taste

cook orzo in water flavored with chicken seasoning., saute onions and peppers in canola oil. mix all the ingredients together with drained pasta.

yes these are the pics from the first day of school. i was feeling a little mushy with the new year starting and the fact that my baby girl is going to be 8 soon, and my willy will be 6 and the not a baby anymore baby is now 2!!! i used mostly crate paper, from scraptastic club! a added a little cosmo cricket and thickers!

here is my take on this weeks sketch!

i really went stash digging this week!!!

we've got a mix of cosmo cricket, k&co, october afternoon, pink paislee alphas, and kaiser dots! i hope you are all inspired to start the new year out by using up stuff you already have!

i thought i would share teh baked goodies i made for tonights new years eve celebration!

here are the double chocolate cupcakes with peanut buttter butter cream frosting!! yummy!!!!
and the mint chocolate chip cookie dough!! i have to say this is the 4th time i made these and i think i finally made the recipe perfect!!!

here it is...
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp peppermint extract
1 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon milk
3/4 cup chocolate chips

cream sugar, butter and shoretning. add egg, extracts, milk beat until combined. whisk and add dry ingredients slowly until combined, mix in chips. bake at 375 until lightly golden on the bottom.

i hope you make these for your celebration to repesent $ in the new year!!!

that's my hunk-a hunk-a little willy!!! how stinkin' cute is he???

i used my paper from my scraptacular father christmas kit (the green), old bg christmas paper from 2 years ago (the red) added blue cardstock and it's not christmassy at all!!
again i dove into the stash for the jb banner, wp alphas along with the thickers i got last year at christmas time. a little playful ribbon and voila!

what a week! gavin has been so sick! turns out he has asthma :( and then developed pneumonia in his right lung. he also has a double ear infection and we spent 3 days in the hospital. he is feeling a little better.

just for fun

i haven't had the chance to do much just for fun scrapping lately. last sunday i had that chance while dinner was cooking. i grabbed a couple old wip kits and created this page.
i went a little stickles crazy on the chipboard pieces.
i used dimensional foam adhesive on the "l" and "v" honestly to make my title fit over that reddish piece of paper lol. how cute is gp in that bottom pic?? little mr cheese!!! i hope you are inspired to pull out an old kit and scrap with it! or better yet mix them up!

i made the leaves for this card by using the negative from the diecut sheet that came with the scraptacular december father christmas kit. i traced, and cut

embossed and painted

glued and glittered

and made this cute card!

this is my display for this years santa photo!
i used the december scraptastic club kit and the chipboard that came in with the paper in the kit to create it

i cut the chipboard 7 1/2 x 12, i measured 3 1/2" from both ends and folded to make my trifold. to make folding the cb a little easier, i lightly scored with my exacto knife.

i inked the edges on the front and back. the back was covered in green cardstock from the kit


then i decorated the front, i hope you like it and are inspired to create one of your own!

grab your marker, punches glue and glitter and let's gooooooo!

this cute flake tag by wrmk is in the scraptastic clubs december yuletide tinsel kit
i used my fine point sharpie and outlined the flake...
i used my snowflake punches (thank you shawn!!!! xoxo) to create the border and the big flake. i stickled the snowflakes on the border. i coated the punched snowflake in modpodge and covered it with marth stewart glitter.

happy bifthday gavin!!!

today my baby boy turns 2! he is such a ray of sunshine to everyone who meets him!!!
he is our 3rd miracle baby. for those not aware gavin was born with a congenital defect called an esophageal atresia. we didn't know until hours after his birth. i am so thankful everyday for the amazing dr's and nurses at the white plains hospital nicu and the drs nurses surgeaon and anest at columbia pesb nicu in nyc! if you are looking for a place to ...donate to this season of giving please consider the march of dimes! they raise money and research and save babies everyday!

a dec daily update

i wanted to share some of the completed pages! i used the scraptastic clubs december kit and a little stash.... waiting for a pic of wil at wintuk. i have the bestest friend EVAH!! nicole took wil to see it at madison square garden! they had the best time!

ah the santa pic! *note to self, NEVAH do that on a sunday!!! now i need to print the pic of gavin running in the years first snow flurries! the snow flake transparency was perfect!

we all know i love to recycle and am a *little* cheap lol!!! so i traced the jennie bowlin banner to make mine (now i can use it again and again lol) here they are, i then cut them out

happy december! a peek at my dec daily

yay for december! i have been doing a december mini of some sort since 2005. i love doing them!!! this is a peek at the begining of my mini, and a little of the easy style i am using. i hope it inspires you all to make your own!

*i started this album, but am still waiting for the rest of my scraptastic club december kit to finish it*

i am using a 6x6 mini i found in the m's $1 bin. i actually got 2 to use, and will be adding accordian cs pages and will be making cb and transparencies as pages too. the cover has the year on it, i have done this since 2005.

i am usuing the same design for the main pages. covered in cs (a good way to use it up lol) then a 5x5 pattern paper centered on the page with a embellishment sticker. i printed out these great circles from creative prompt
i will be using the same punch throughout the book. i want to keep it as easy for myself as possible.

i cannot wait to fill all these pages!
